佛山市第一人民医院是具百年历史的老院，于1993年易地新建。主体工程是当时国内一次建设规模最大的综合医院，采用半集中式布局，在国内首先采用医院主街的设计概念、在门诊部使用自动扶梯，选用能满足大型医疗设施要求的方格网交通模式。从设计概念到手法都突破了当时国内大型医院的建设模式。工程投入使用后，社会影响广泛。卫生部领导评价其为中国现代医院的开端。二期工程感染科楼建成后适逢SARS爆发，该楼接待了世界上第一例SARS患者，患者和医护人员零感染、零死亡。后续的肿瘤楼和保健楼渐进式更新，时间跨度相距12年，仍保持了医院功能链和医疗脉络。

As an old hospital with a century-old history, Foshan First People's Hospital was relocated and newly built in 1993. Its main works was the largest general hospital built in a semi-centralized layout at a time in China. The design concept of the main street in the hospital was first adopted at home, the escalator was used in the outpatient department, and the grid network transportation mode meeting the requirements of large-scale medical facilities was selected as well. From the design concept to the technique, it broke through the construction mode of large domestic hospitals at that time. After being put into use, the Project has posed extensive social influence. The leaders of the Ministry of Health praised it as the beginning of a modern hospital in China. SARS broke out rightly when the second phase of the infection department building was completed. The building received the first SARS patient over the world and achieved zero infections and zero deaths of patients and medical staff. The follow-up tumor building and health building were gradually updated. With a time span of 12 years, they still maintained the functional chain and medical context of the hospital.
